Rose McGowan in Scream (1996)
are you ready to get
"I decided to get a little creative this year. I present Edgar Allan Ho"
… You mayo stains do realize that you can “shit” on someone and call them out on their “shit” without being racist? Pharrell posed in a Native American headdress and we all got on him without being racist, sans racial slurs or stereotypes.
We “shit” on Robin Thicke because he (and Pharrell) made a pro-rape song. He showed disrespect for his wife on national television. What does that have do with this race?? Unless he did racist things??
Y’all make NO SENSE. But please continue crying a river of tears so I can have another source of water during this California drought.
I don’t know if I should laugh at your url or “mayo stains” first

Except no one really actually called out Pharrell over Blurred Lines. Even though he is 100% the guy who wrote it. I’ve seen everyone trash Robin Thicke and say they want to never see him again; everywhere else, Pharrel is treated pretty well? I’d just like some consistency here.
The point the anon is poorly trying to make is that Tumblr has a tendency to jump down white artists’ throats while singing the praises of equally problematic non-white ones in some backwards attempts to even out what society does. It doesn’t make society better, it just makes problematic people be in the spotlight. Being Hispanic, I’m all for non-white artists getting attention for the positive things that they do… but I don’t want shitty things they do to be let slide because someone is afraid it’ll weaken some political cause.
(And really. Blurred Lines is really just a super creepy song, it’s not actually about rape from what I heard; nothing really suggested he was physically doing anything against her consent, he was just being an annoying bastard about it. Last I checked, being an annoying bastard is creepy, but it’s not rape. If anything, at best, it’s pro-harassment and pro-ignoring boundaries. Which again, is bad, but it isn’t rape. Please stop throwing the word “rape” around because it makes us survivors feel trivialized and reduced to a political point.)
yeah the consent on the female’s part is ambiguous since she’s debating on if she wants to cheat or not. another song that’s popular that has a more ‘rapey’ line to it is timber. I’m talking about the part where pitbull says ‘she’s says she won’t but i bet she will’ but yet i hear no contraversy over that line.

Yeah. Blurred Lines is shitty and kinda creepy (and not in a good way) but I don’t see a lot of “rape-y” vibes coming from it. Harassment maybe but not rape. If Pitbull really said that line in a song then yeah, that is kind of disturbing.
